Statement of Faith
We believe
In the one true God who lives eternally in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
God is loving, sovereign, gracious, just and holy.
God created, sustains, rules, saves and judges the world.
That the Old and New Testaments of the Bible are the written Word of God, inspired by God, and our supreme authority. They show us the way to faith, and guide our conduct.
All people are created in God’s image, yet are corrupted by sin.
That Jesus became man, born of a virgin, truly God and truly human, yet without sin.
That Jesus died on the cross in our place, paying the price for our sin, defeating evil, and enabling us to be reconciled with God.
That Jesus physically rose from the dead; ascended to heaven, and reigns as the only Saviour of the world.
That we can only be put right with God by his grace, through faith in Jesus.
That Jesus will return to this earth, to fulfil the purposes of God, to judge all people, bringing eternal life to those who are His, and eternal condemnation to those who have rejected Him.
The Holy Spirit leads us to repentance, unites us with Jesus through new birth, empowers us to live in a way which pleases God, and helps us share our faith with others.
That Christians are disciples, growing in holiness, maturity and faith as they become more like Jesus.
In the Church, both local and universal, enabled by the Holy Spirit to worship God, tell others the good news of Jesus, promote justice and to live in God-centred community here on earth.
